Searching Systematically For Your Literature Review: EndNote Desktop

The Endnote desktop software stores the program and your citation library locally on your computer.  EndNote Desktop has more functionality than EndNote online, including customising output styles for specific publications. Synchronise it with EndNote online to continue to work on any PC on or off-campus.

What is EndNote?

EndNote is a a type of reference management software which allows you to create your own reference database and then to use that database to generate a bibliography in your papers, books and theses. It is available in both Desktop and Online versions with EndNote 21 being the current Desktop version.

EndNote helps users:

  • Gather references automatically from databases;
  • Format  documents and citations instantly in a variety of styles;
  • Generate bibliographies;
  • Create and organise a personal research database of references, images and PDFs;
  • Share citations with colleagues.

EndNote for Systematic Reviews

A guide to using EndNote for systematic reviews is available under the Managing Records (EndNote) tab of our Systematic Review LibGuide: https://libguides.ul.ie/systematic-reviews.
