Research Data: Funder Requirements

Funding agencies are keen to see researchers following good data management practices. Writing Data Management Plans and publishing data sets underpinning research results are requirements implemented by an increasing number of research funders.

Funder Requirements

European Union Funding (Horizon)

The European Commission encourages the Open Access publication of research data under its Horizon program with the  "Open Research Data Pilot" and mandates the submission of DMPs for projects. The Guide centers around the principle that data should be ‘as open as possible, as closed as necessary’.

Irish Research Council

The Irish Research Council published an Open Access policy that covers research data alongside publications. Applicants for funding need to include information on data management.
