Research Services: Research Data

The Glucksman Library's guide to assist researchers with all aspects of the research process from finding information to maximising impact.

Introduction to Research Data Management (RDM)

"Research data management concerns the organisation of data, from its entry to the research cycle through to the dissemination and archiving of valuable results." (Whyte & Tedds, 2011)

The slides and recorded lectures on this page will explain the basics of good practice in research data management. The contents of the slides and lectures are based closely on material produced by MANTRA, the Research Data Online course produced by the University of Edinburgh.:

Research Data Management (RDM) Training Slides

The slides below explain the basics of research data management, again with thanks to the University of Edinburgh's Mantra.

The first presentation is a UL Glucksman Library Presentation detailing Irish Research Council requirements.

Research Data Management; Ethical Issues & General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

The Library is in the process of updating its resources about the legal and ethical requirements, including GDPR, surrounding research data management. In the meantime, please consult UCD’s guide on RDM and ethical issues.
