Overview

The IReL-PLOS agreement 1 Feb 2022 - 31 Dec 2024 allows current staff and students in UL and other IReL institutions to make articles accepted for publication in eligible PLOS journals open access without article processing charges (APCs). 

What journals are covered

The following journals are included:

  • PLOS Digital Health
  • PLOS ONE
  • PLOS Computational Biology
  • PLOS Pathogens
  • PLOS Neglected Tropical Diseases
  • PLOS Genetics

PLOS journals excluded from the agreement: PLOS Climate, PLOS Global Public Health, PLOS Water, PLOS Biology, PLOS Medicine, PLOS Sustainability and Transformation. 

Instructions for authors

For your article submission to be included under the agreement, you must be the corresponding author and affiliated to 'University of Limerick'. In the article submission process you must correctly identify your institution as 'University of Limerick. You must use your UL email address, and not addresses from other domains. 

Eligibility is based on article acceptance date.

Author affiliations

Corresponding authors must be a current staff member or student of UL.  

In the article submission process you must correctly identify your institution.

You should use your UL email address when submitting your article. 

If your manuscript is accepted for publication, the publisher will give you the opportunity to make your article Open Access and apply a Creative Commons license. The publisher will then contact the participating institution to confirm your eligibility under the agreement.
