Useful Reading List Tools

There are many useful tools available in Reading Lists which can help you with your reading and research.

Mark Citations As Read

Use this function to keep track of which citations you have read in the reading list.

  1. Open the reading list in your Brightspace module page.
  2. Find the citation you have read.
  3. Click on the check icon following the citation's title.

Share, Export, Or Print A reading List

Sometimes you need to export a reading list to a different format, or print it. To do this:

  1. Open the reading list in your Brightspace module page.
  2. Click the ellipsis icon at the top right corner of the list:
  • To export: Click Export and then choose the format you need.
    Note: When you choose Word format you can also choose a reference style (Harvard, APA, etc):

  • To print: Click Print.

Create Your Own Collection

If you find particularly useful sources in the reading lists in your various Brightspace module pages, you can create your own collection of citations. To do this:

  1. Click the ellipsis icon to the right of the source.
  2. Select Copy to my collection – this will save the item to your own list/collection in Leganto:
     
  3. To access your collection, click the main site navigation icon at the top-left corner of the reading list window:

  4. From the menu select COLLECTION:

Checking Availability

  1. To check the availability of an item on the reading list, click the Check availability link.

    The item will open in a new window with more details about the source and information on availability.
    For example, with this eBook you can see it is available online:

  2. Click the View online link. A new window will open with links to access the eBook online:

Quick Cite

A really useful feature of reading lists is the option to copy citations from sources on the list.

Remember to always check the accuracy of the citations before using them in your assignment!

To copy a citation from the reading list:

  1. Click the ellipsis icon to the right-side of the relevant listed source:

  2. Select the Quick Cite link:

  3. Select the relevant referencing style from the dropdown menu:

  4. Click the Copy to clipboard link:

  5. Paste the reference in to your assignment and edit as necessary.

Remember to always check the accuracy of the citations before using them in your assignment!
