In 2015, Ireland’s National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education recognised a need for the students and staff of educational institutes to become more digitally literate. The forum's All Aboard report identified the skills and knowledge needed to create and contribute to our digital world. The various competencies were organised to create a metro map of these skills.
The University of Limerick has always embraced new systems and technologies to support our communities, on and off campus. Drawing on our experience and with seed funding from the Shannon Consortium's Take1Step initiative, we developed a training programme to deliver the basic digital skills associated with our own digital preservation work. Aligning ourselves to the All Aboard map, the Digital Foundations online course offers training across all six routes on the map.

This project was seed funded by the Shannon Consortium's 2016 Take 1 Step initiative.
